Hello Everyone!!
When I started this blog, I thought I only wanted to write about crocheting, and I'd post something new everyday. I was WRONG! I don't have time or content to post every single day, so I will just post from time to time.No set rules, just when I have something to share. :) I won't be posting about crochet only. I've found there are times when I want to share other things. However, it will be predominantly about crochet....I think. lol OK, so now I have some pics and comments to share, about crochet. ;)
I have been more productive with my crocheting recently, because my computer was "down" for about a month. We were sure glad to get back online! When there's nothing else to do, we both tend to gravitate to the computer. We also keep up with family news online through email and Facebook. What did we do before there was Facebook?!!
I am posting some photos of my most recently completed crochet projects for you to see. This is my "show & tell" space. lol
This is a shawl I made. The pattern was in the June 2012 Crochet World Magazine. It's simply called Shells & Lace Shawl.I don't have any special plans for it, just liked the pattern. These are colors that I particularly like, too.
This is an Rectangle Granny Afghan. Very simple pattern, and one that is quite common.I'm really not sure what pattern I used, but here's where you can get one. I was mostly just using up yarn that I had on hand. Suzies patterns are usually good patterns.
Again, I was using up stashed yarn. This is yarn I've had for at least 30 years, longer I think. I think I probably bought it in North Carolina when my "x" and I were stationed at Ft Bragg. Got rid of the husband, kept the yarn. lol This is a pattern for a baby blanket, and works up fast & easy. This could absolutely be for a wee one, a toddler, or even as a lapghan for grandma or grandpa. The pattern for this one is a free one and can be found here:
This is a scarf I made from a pattern for a stole. I used Simply Soft by Caron yarn. I love that kind of yarn, but didn't love this color. I bought the navy to try and perk it up a bit. It's not a real long scarf, but you can tie it & tuck it inside your coat and keep your neck warm. My hubby really liked the colors, so it's just a matter of taste. It is a free pattern. I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what pattern I used right now. When I figure out which one it is, I'll post a link to it.
This was the biggest project I've undertaken in a long time. There are 184 squares in this afghan. Truthfully I really enjoyed making it. I enjoyed the challenge of a big project, and I made it as a wedding gift for a young lady I've known most of her life. I've watched her grow up at church, and I think she's a pretty special young lady. She's not getting married for another month or so, so I am actually ahead of things for a change. I knew that she collected quilts, but since I am not a quilter, this was the next best thing. I talked to her Mom and found out that a Nine Patch is her favorite. Mom chose the colors. The pattern is a free one, and can be found here:
This is my most recently finished project. Just finished it a couple of days ago. It is a gift for a family member who means a lot to me. I don't think they are likely to see it here or I'd wait about posting it. This too is a free pattern, (That's the best kind!), and is shown in blues, so it looks different from mine. My colors were chosen by the people I made it for. You can find the pattern here:
Wishing you all a wonderful Independence Day!
We have so much to be thankful for, even with all our troubles.
